Exceptionally beautiful: the heavily ruffled petals seem to have been hand-painted in delicate watercolour washes of purple and pink over an apricot coloured base. The effect changes depending on whether the light is falling on the flower or coming from behind. This style of iris is called “luminata” which is apt to describe the way the flowers seem to radiate light. May take a little time to establish but once it has got going forms a spectacular clump.
