DELIVERY:
Irises are lifted in the period late July-early October and are then dispatched bare root. Any orders taken are fulfilled at that time and we cannot supply irises at other times. Please note that we can currently deliver only within Italy, the United Kingdom and destinations within the European Union. You should select the delivery method appropriate to your destination. In the case of UK deliveries, we can reduce delivery costs by transporting all orders to the UK ourselves at the end of the lifting season and then despatching from within the UK. For this option select delivery within the UK, but note that we will not be able to despatch until September at the earliest. If you wish delivery any earlier you will need to select one of the other delivery methods for despatch direct to the UK from Italy.
We will acknowledge your order by email and will give an approximate shipment date. Please let us know as soon as possible if that date is inconvenient.
SUBSTITUTES:
Sometimes when we come to dig up the rhizomes, we find that there are not as many plants as we had anticipated. We will substitute a similar iris of equal or greater value or refund any overpayment. If you do not wish a substitute, please say so at the time of ordering.
GUARANTEE AND CONDITIONS:
In accordance with article 128 and following of the Consumer Code (D.Lgs. 206/2005), the products you buy from us are covered by a guarantee in the event they are defective.
We promise that all our plants are true to name and we guarantee to send good quality, healthy rhizomes. The limit of our liability under this guarantee will be to supply a replacement rhizome (where available) or refund the price of the relevant plant.
All rhizomes will be labelled (usually, in indelible pen on the leaf fan) and you should substitute your own label at the point of planting if you wish to keep track of named varieties.
Please note that iris rhizomes vary greatly in size from cultivar to cultivar. What we send will be reasonably representative of the given cultivar. Also, please bear in mind that the appearance of a given cultivar can vary quite markedly with soil and weather conditions and differing light levels. Whilst we try to ensure that our photographs give good guidance as to what you can expect, some colours are difficult to reproduce well.
Any complaints must be raised promptly. In the case of complaints about the quality or number of rhizomes delivered, these should be raised within 30 days of delivery, attaching a photograph illustrating the problem. In the case of complaints that a rhizome supplied is not true to name, these should be raised promptly after flowering and a photograph of the iris in flower and details of the order under which we supplied it should be emailed to us. We will replace or refund.
We can give no guarantee that a plant will flower in any particular season. Irises often do not bloom in their first year after planting and bloom is also affected by levels of sunshine and growing conditions.
In the unlikely event that one of our plants fails within four weeks of receipt (having been planted promptly upon receipt) we will gladly replace it. Provided that plants are properly planted promptly on receipt and watered in, following our planting instructions, you should begin to see fresh growth (the central leaves of the cut fan will lengthen, indicating this). Where a plant fails later than this it will be due to factors in your garden. The most common causes are:
•Planting the rhizome below ground level
•Planting in shade
•Planting in wet ground
•Cutting off the leaves or covering in winter
•Keeping under glass in the winter - they should be in the open
•Planting with the roots screwed up in an air pocket under the rhizome.
